Episode 14: Amerisogyny Exposed: The Global Struggle for Female Soldiers' Rights
Ft Hood made national news when Vanessa Guillen, a soldier in the U.S. Army, went missing and was found dead in 2020. She was murdered by a male soldier who had been sexually harassing her. Recent news of another young female soldier has set rumors about the army base in Fort Hood, Texas, ablaze. Her mysterious death has raised old suspicions towards the U.S. Army's treatment of female soldiers at Ft Hood.
Ana Basaldua Ruiz had recently complained of sexual harassment to her parents. Tragically, she was found dead only days after speaking with her mother. Ana's death sparks an abundance of unanswered questions. In this episode, I will show you how female soldiers are treated around the world. Sadly, regardless of the country of origin, women often find the military to be a treacherous arena built on graphic sexualization and blatant disrespect.
